PhD Computer Science

About Program

The PhD in Computer Science is offered by the Department of Computer Science. The program includes 18 credit hours of coursework followed by 36 credit hours of research leading to a doctoral thesis.

The program is designed as an advanced, research-focused academic pathway that enables scholars to explore specialized areas of Computer Science in depth. Through rigorous coursework, independent research, and academic mentorship, students develop strong analytical, research, and critical-thinking abilities for contributing to new knowledge and technological advancement. Graduates are prepared for influential roles in academia, research organizations, industry, and other knowledge-driven environments.

Objectives

  1. Promote research excellence through original and impactful investigations in specialized areas of Computer Science.
  2. Support scholars in undertaking indigenous research and development projects that strengthen advanced training and education.
  3. Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration to address complex problems through innovative research and solutions.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Academic Qualification: Applicants must have completed 18 years of education with an MS/MPhil in Computer Science or a related field, with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or first division.
  • Admission Test: Applicants are required to meet the admission-test requirement through NTS GAT Subject, ETC HAT, GRE, or the University Entry Test, with a minimum cumulative score of 70%.
