MPhil International Relations

About Program

The MPhil International Relations is a two-year graduate program designed to provide advanced academic and research training in international relations, world politics, and contemporary global affairs. The program combines theoretical study with research-oriented learning to help students develop a deeper understanding of political systems, international institutions, foreign policy, diplomacy, and the changing dynamics of the global environment.

Students engage with both the theoretical and practical dimensions of International Relations through research, academic discussion, seminars, and analytical study. The program strengthens critical thinking and enables scholars to examine political developments and policy issues at national, regional, and international levels in a systematic and informed manner.

The program prepares graduates for advanced research and further academic study while also developing the knowledge and analytical skills required for careers in government, public policy, foreign affairs, diplomacy, research organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other fields related to international relations.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Academic Qualification: Applicants must meet the minimum HEC eligibility requirements and hold at least 16 years of education, such as a Master’s degree or a four-year BS degree, in Social Sciences, Humanities, or a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum Academic Standing: A minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 under the semester system or at least 50% marks under the annual system is required.
  • Admission Test: Applicants must obtain at least 50% marks in GAT (General) or the AIU Graduate Admission Test, as applicable under the university admission policy.
  • Interview: Candidates are required to appear in an admission interview conducted by Alhamd Islamic University.
  • Academic Record: Applicants must not have a third division in their academic career.
